Gretchen focuses her law practice on representing individuals who have been injured in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, personal care homes, and hospitals due to negligence, abuse and medical malpractice. She also represents individuals who have been seriously injured in other ways, such as in car and trucking accidents, by defective products, and on unsafe premises.
Prior to co-founding Wagner Hughes, LLC, Gretchen was a partner at a well-respected mid-sized law firm in Atlanta where she defended medical malpractice, trucking accident, and premises liability cases involving personal injury for over eleven years. She represented doctors, physician extenders, nurses, medical practices, a large Atlanta hospital system, and national retailers. After 11 years defending personal injury cases, Gretchen began representing individuals and families who have been injured due to someone else’s wrongful conduct. Her invaluable experience defending medical providers, national retailers, hospitals, and working with large insurance companies allows her to represent injured clients with first-hand knowledge about how the other side evaluates, works-up and litigates complex cases involving personal injury.
Gretchen’s extensive background litigating medical cases is particularly invaluable to her representation of clients in medical negligence and nursing home abuse and neglect cases, where the medical issues and legal requirements can be complex. This experience enables her to more effectively evaluate and litigate medical cases in pursuit of her client’s goals. Gretchen is passionate about helping victims, and their families, who have been injured in nursing homes. She strongly believes that each case can make a difference not only for her clients, but for others residing in nursing homes and for future nursing home residents.
Gretchen graduated with Honors from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business in 1998, earning a B.B.A. degree in International Business. She continued her education at the University of Georgia School of Law where she earned her law degree with Honors in 2002. She has been consecutively named by Georgia Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” and has been named as a Georgia Trend Legal Elite. She served on the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers’ Foundation Board from 2008 to 2011. She Co-Chaired its signature fundraising event – The Art Auction – two consecutive years, from which she received several awards. She also served on the PTA Executive Board at her sons’ school for six years. Gretchen is originally from the Metro Atlanta area. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons who are actively involved in baseball. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, snow skiing, and entertaining.
